What is journaling?
Journaling is the practice recording of your thoughts, feelings and insights. These may be written, drawn, or may be even be typed up.
What are the benefits of journaling?
There are many studies which show the benefits of spending time journaling each day, including boosting your mood and having a positive effect on your wellbeing. It can give you the space to connect inwards to your intuition and to listen to what is really going on for you.
So how do you journal and where do you start?
The simple answer is ‘just start’. Like anything all knowing is in the doing and so grabbing a pen, a notebook and five minutes to just write is really all you need.
When you make that time and where is completely up to you. You might have five+ minutes whilst your kids are at their swimming lesson, or you might make time before bed to sit and reflect on your day.
You don’t need to journal every day either, how much you journal and how often is up to you too. This practice can be completely designed around you and your life.
What do you write about?
There is no right or wrong about what you should or shouldn’t write about, where you should start or how much you should write or what format it should take. Again that is completely up to you.
You might wish to use prompts, questions, card (such as the Practical Magic Activation Deck) or just write whatever comes up in the moment.

What did you learn about yourself today/this week/this month?
What do you love most about your life?
What is one thing you want more of in your life?
What would your best friend say to you about …… ?
When do you feel most like you?

How does …….. make you feel?
