/#winningasamummy campaign - Sponsors HotTea Mama
From 10-17th May 2020 I am launching the #winningasamummy campaign for the third year in a row and I am delighted that this year HotTea Mama are sponsoring the campaign with their incredible teas!
Here’s the wonderful HoTTeam Mama Founders Kate and Bethan explaining all about why they started their business and why they are proud to support the #winningasamummy campaign for the second year.

Kate and I are so delighted to be supporting the ‘Winning As A Mummy’ campaign with Isabella & Us.
We met at university in Oxford over 13 years ago, where our boyfriends were at the same college and introduced us. It’s funny to look back at how care free our lives were at that point, despite studying and then work, we didn’t appreciate how easy going life was without children!
After graduation, I started to train to be a tea buyer with a specialist tea company in London, and went into marketing. She had been a professional ballerina before coming to Oxford which I always think is amazing, but she wanted a longer term career.
Kate and Alex left to work in America for a while, then Australia, where they got married and had 2 gorgeous girls in the space of less than a year. That’ll change your life pretty dramatically!
At this point, they then moved back to Oxford and Kate asked me about how teas could help pregnancy and motherhood. And why was no one making bespoke teas to support mums in this journey.
I was pregnant with my second child at this moment, and whilst I’d realised a lot of the teas I was blended for my day job couldn’t be drunk in pregnancy, I hadn’t really thought it through more than that! As soon as Kate mentioned her idea and that we should work on it, I couldn’t get it out of my head.
Most herbal teas, and even fruit teas, that you find on the supermarket shelf have liquorice in them to make them sweet. However, liquorice raises your blood pressure and can be really dangerous if you’re at risk of preeclampsia in pregnancy.
So we set about making our range. Safe for pregnancy and breastfeeding, but with benefits for mums at any point of life. Our sleep aid teas are for grannies as well as new mums!
We have both always thought that one of the key benefits of our teas, isn’t just the ingredients. It’s the fact that it gets mum’s to take a moment for themselves. Putting the kettle on and brewing a tea forces you to take 3 minutes, which isn’t about your baby, or kids.
The fact you can do this and take Emma’s advice, to think about the ways in which you’re winning as a mummy, is key. We don’t take enough time for ourselves to do this normally. But a cup of tea (ideally with a biscuit or bit of cake!) will give you the time and space to do it.
Especially in lock down, where we aren’t as free as normal to go out and see friends or family, this feels even more important. Noting the wins and good times, in amongst what can be very stressful isolation with a baby or children. We all need to do it, and we’re really pleased so many women do it with our teas. It means the world.
