Self Care for Winter

Self Care for Winter

Self care is an important practice in every season of the year. Finding practices that fit with each season can be a way of being present and in tune with each season of the year and your needs.

Winter ~

Is the season of the year, between autumn and spring. It is generally the coldest season of the year, where the nights are longer and there is less daylight. It is the season where more time is spent in hibernation for many animals and where many conserve energy for the lighter and warmer spring months.

Winter Self Care Practices

~ Get outside in the winter air. Head to your favourite outdoor spot for winter and have a walk. Get wrapped up warm and spend time being present, noticing the changes in your surroundings.

~ Recharge. What is your go to self care practice that supports you to recharge? What helps you to feel relaxed and calm? Focus on adding in this self care practice as much as you can over the Winter months.

~ Start a new book and spend some time each week reading a chapter. Get snuggled on the sofa with a blanket and a candle and spend some time being present with the words in your book.

~ Journal using the prompt ‘what do I want to prioritise with my energy this Winter?’

~ Create yourself some Winter decorations for your house. You might wish to add some winter or Christmas decorations to your house and perhaps spend some time crafting with your children

~ Tidy your wardrobe and bring out those Winter outfits ready for the colder temperatures and winter festivities.

~ Create a vision board for all of your hopes, wishes and goals for Winter.

Winter is a time for conserving your energy, for prioritising your own needs and self care before Spring arrives. It is a time to allow yourself to rest and recharge ready for moving forwards and blooming in Spring.
