Last Friday I launched my first ever Kickstarter campaign. It’s safe to say that the last 7 days have been me constantly checking to see if anyone else has pledged and if I am any closer to hitting the target.

I’ve long wanted to produce an enamel pin as part of the products at Isabella and Us. After the success of our ‘winning as a mummy’ products and the #iamwinningasamummybecause campaign in May it only felt right that the pin would be a ‘winning as a mummy’ pin. After all it is a phrase I use so much here at Isabella and Us.

Winning as a mummy is all about sharing and celebrating our wins as a mum! It doesn’t matter how small or big that win is as long as we celebrate it!

When I became a mum to Isabella 6 months ago I really struggled with the transition into motherhood. I felt like I still had to do everything I had done before, that I still had to do all the cooking, cleaning, have make up on each day and doing everything is just not possible when you have a little person to care for too! I put so much unnecessary pressure on myself to be this perfect got it all together new mum but deep down I was really really struggling.

When I changed my mindset and began to focus on what I had achieved that day rather than what I hadn’t I noticed a massive shift in how I was feeling. Focusing on the positives has such a massive impact on our mental health so I am now trying to raise awareness of this and to promote positive wellbeing in mums and dads. One way I’m doing this is through the products I produce, and that’s were the pin comes in.

The pin continues my aim to promote positive wellbeing in parents and raise awareness of maternal mental health following on from the #iamwinningasamummybecause campaign I ran in May 2018. The aim of the campaign and this pin badge is to highlight mum’s mental health. 1 in 3 mum’s suffer from Post-natal Depression and most suffer in silence and 93% of mums feel lonely at some point. Maternal mental health is often swept under the carpet due to lack of support and the stigma attached to mental health.

The hope of the pin is that it will help some mums out their to realise that they are winning and that by focusing on their Mummy Wins as a community that it can help to promote positivity and support other mums.

The pin will be there as a perfect reminder to mummies that they are winning! Pinned onto a mums changing bag, handbag, jacket or dungarees it will act as a constant reminder that they are winning even on the tough days! Because let’s face it being a parent can be tough!

Celebrating those small wins from having a hot drink, to a shower in peace, to a snack without your child noticing is so important! And this pin will be there to remind mums of that!

The pin makes the perfect gift for any mum, not just new mums or mums to be but also grandmas and great grandmas too! Let’s remind all the mummies they are winning no matter how long or short they have been a mum for!

The reason I chose to do a Kickstarter to raise the funds for the pin badges is because of the shear cost of manufacturing the pins. The cost to manufacture is expensive and the pins can only be produced in runs of 100. So to raise the funds I need your help, whether that is through pledges (there are some amazing rewards) or through sharing the campaign.

Currently we have hit 51% of the target with another £118 to go till we hit the target! Thank you so much to everyone who has pledged and shared the campaign already. It means so much and I am eternally grateful for you helping me on this journey!

If the pins are produced then the pins that go on general sale will also donate 10% from each sale to the charity Mind to support and to raise awareness of mental health.

I’m really hoping that we can hit the target so that I can turn this design and product into a reality because I just know it will help so many mums realise they are winning!
