A Recipe for Happiness because a happy Mum means a happy home - Rebecca Hogan, Rebecca Hogan Coaching
/A Recipe for Happiness because a happy Mum means a happy home
Would you like to wake up feeling happier and more excited for the day ahead? Here’s how!
Grab yourself a lovely hot cup of tea and write down your answers to the following questions:
What makes you happy? Write down a list of all the things that make you happy and excited. How can you start doing something from this list each day?
What things make you stressed, anxious or unhappy? How can you stop doing or experiencing these things?
What difference would it make to your children and your partner’s lives if you could feel happier and calmer each day?
How would your whole family benefit from you feeling happier and calmer each day?
You’ve just discovered how important it is that you show up as the best Mum.
You’ve also started to think about how you can make that happen by adjusting what you do or experience each day.
We owe it to ourselves and our children to take time for ourselves to do the things we love which bring us joy so that we can shine bright each and every day as a warm, kind and caring Mum and partner.
Hopefully you’re now feeling really motivated to make some changes and improve your day to day thoughts and feelings.
If you’ve tried all this before and really struggle to take the time to do the things that help you to feel more calm and happy ask yourself why?
Our mindset can make it difficult for us to do the things we want to do sometimes. Our thoughts and beliefs can cause us to self-sabotage ourselves. Our mind is powerful but it can hold us back too. As an empowerment coach I help lots of Mums to identify what’s stopping them from making their day to day lives feel easier and happier.
Here's some common thoughts and feelings that hold Mums back from doing more of what makes them happy:
Self doubt – “Ahhh I probably won’t be able to do that.”, “I’m too tired for that”, “That’s not what Mums do”, “What will people think of me!”
You can silence your inner mean mumma voice and get self-confident instead.
"I probably won't be able to complete that run" can become, "I'm going to give that run my best shot. I'm sure I can do it."
Mum guilt – “I shouldn’t be taking that time for myself”, "I feel so bad leaving the kids and their Dad alone so I can go out" You can become more logical in your thoughts and more at ease with your decisions - "They're going to get on just fine without me and have some much needed bonding time. I'll have my family time with them later."
Overwhelm – “I just can’t do it all”, “I’m never going to get all this done”, “How on earth can I do what makes me happy when I have all this to do”.
You can choose to take a step back from the To Do list and decide if you really do need to do it all today or even at all. Then when you have your refined, slimmed down To Do list you can put a plan in place.
"I just can't do it all" becomes "I’ll work out what I want to get done today and what to do first”. You'll feel able to go for a relaxing walk, perhaps even while you work out what's most important and then tackle the To Do list when you get back feeling refreshed and calmer.
Can you see how reframing thoughts can empower you to take that time for you?
It’s a game changer and I’d love to help you do all this.
