Caroline Thompson is a mother of two boys and a step-daughter and runs a membership site for women in business.  She’s a breastfeeding, babywearing, bedsharing business woman and loves it! She lives in Blackpool with her family and two border terriers, Ruby and Poppy and could not survive without chocolate!

What is your biggest mummy win to date?

Handing my notice in and launching my own business - a business that works for me and my family.

It is super important to me that I am there for my boys.  I want to be there for sports days, school plays and even sick days, so I have built my business around this.  It h not been easy, there have been tears, tears and more tears but I now have a successful business that works round the boys.

I think this became clear when I attended a Mother’s Day event at nursery (I missed last year as I was working) and my little boy’s face lit up when he saw me - yep, you guessed it, there were more tears!

I honestly think I have cried more since becoming a mum than ever before - and not always the sad tears of despair but the happy tears when they do something new and the emotional tears when you realise that they are their own little person and growing up before your eyes.

What is your 'you know you are a parent when' moment

I know I’m a parent when I leave the house without the boys / sling / baby bag / lunchbox and do a little dance on the way out!

I think this is why what you are doing is so important as it is the little things that make the most difference when you are a parent - the hugs, the kisses, the smiles, the words.  I know I’m a parent when these tiny things can make such a huge difference to my day.

I know my first answer was about leaving the house without them but all the best moments are when I’m with them, laughing and giggling with my three year old or snuggling and sniffing my baby.  Motherhood might not be easy journey but it’s definitely worth it.
