5 Things I learnt being a mum to a two year old

Motherhood is tough and honestly it’s been quite an emotional journey. As we head towards Isabella’s third birthday in December, which I am sure will be here in no time, I’m reflecting on the past two and a half years of motherhood.

Here’s 5 things I learnt being a mum to a two year old:

  1. Seeing everything with a new perspective - Those long evening walks and even longer weekend walks during lockdown, you saw everything as something new, something exciting. From birds in the trees to sticks and flowers, everything was new and exciting to you.

  2. I am learning each and every day - motherhood has never come easy, but as we’ve spent more time together I’ve more and more about what my strengths are when it comes to parenthood and when things have become a trigger and I need some support.

  3. Self care is so important (for us all as a family) - Self Care, in it’s many forms, has become a non- negotiable for all of us, Chris goes for run, I work on Isabella and Us. and do pilates and we both spend time away from each other. I’m hoping we are setting a good example for Isabella as she grows that it is important to do things that nature you.

  4. Your cuddles are everything - They fill me with such happiness every time, especially bedtime time cuddles. And her hold you closer each time, knowing that at some point she’ll say ‘no mummy, no cuddles’.

  5. I miss you being tiny - The bigger Isabella gets the more and more I miss her being tiny and wishing for one more hold of her as a baby. I expect that this is completely normal and that many parents feel this way. I think it might be time to get back to creating her scrapbooks with all of our memories in!
