My Wellbeing Art Journal - write and draw while being inspired

There is so much evidence-based research around both journaling and drawing, that health benefits of both cannot be denied. Mental health stats show that women with young children had a particularly difficult time dealing with mental health issues during the pandemic.

I decided to try to do something to help. I came up with the idea of self-publishing an art journal. I put together some soothing words alongside my illustrations to inspire, and for you to build a relationship with journaling. Each page is designed to be an experience.

There's a strong connection between happiness and mindfulness. Journaling brings you into that state of mindfulness; problems in the past and future anxieties lose their edge in the present moment. It calls a wandering mind to attention, from being passive to actively engaging with your thoughts.

Emotional Intelligence is the ability to understand and manage your emotions, and that of others. Journaling is an outlet, to processing emotions and increase our own self-awareness. This internal learning experience creates empathy for ourselves, and you can begin to better understand what others are feeling too.

With creating art, having your own art at home or work often creates interest, conversation and pride for the artist. Recognition is important of both expression and skills, as creativity is a skill that can be used in all areas of our lives.

To tell you a little about me, I am an artist and illustrator, I have a BA Hons in Fine Art Painting, and am a Teacher in Higher Education. I also have a mental health qualification. Alongside this, I am also a person!

A woman on her own mental health journey. A woman who's had some challenging times, as we all have sometimes. I decided to use my creativity to explore my feelings, and the images I produced embellish the pages of this journal. The idea of connection both to ourselves and each other is at the very heart of this journal.

These are some page excerpts from the journal for you to use. I hope you enjoy them and that you are inspired to continue.
