Let it Shine

“Even in my Home, I’m Gonna Let it Shine”.

This Little Light of Mine , Song by Sam Cooke Sam Cooke, and his singing, has got into my bones recently. Alexa will be putting in for a holiday as I’ve been asking her to play this song on repeat the past few weeks. This Little Light of Mine is a well known song, particularly if you went to Sunday School as a child.

However, I hadn’t heard this rhythmic, soulful version before by Sam Cooke. And it is addictive in an uplifting, energetic, feel-good sense. His words, “ Even in my Home I’m Gonna Let it Shine” really stood out , surprised me even, and now I know why.

I realised that we all have these dreams and desires to do our best in life and fulfil our Soul Purpose. We can get carried away and dwell on improving the lives of others and somehow once ‘home’ we attempt to relax, deflate and be downright ‘Crabbit’ as we say in Scotland.

We can ‘take it out on those closest to us’- but we are only human as they say. As mothers though, when we are having our sleep interrupted by dreams, teething, early risers or lying awake worrying about our teenagers, the sheer exhaustion can cause us to be short tempered, harassed, forgetful and overwhelmed. If you are going, or have gone through, a separation, divorce or illness within the family the mental and emotional drain can deplete your resources.

When we are juggling work, homework, hobbies, potty training, single parenting perhaps and caring responsibilities for our much loved elderly relatives, life can seem overwhelming. I’m here to remind you however there is a little light simmering deep within You and the key is finding and using your Inner Strength to remind you of Hope, Faith and Love.

As long as Love is the centerpiece of your words, actions, intentions and thoughts you are doing the best life can expect from you. Any offer of respite given; Take It!! No matter how little. And when I mean respite, it doesn’t need to be a physical one, if that’s not a possibility. An emotional, mental and spiritual one will significantly aide to rejuvenate you.

After I flop into bed at night, and if I’m too tired to read (most nights) I’ve discovered the power of Guided Meditation. You can find a plethora of topics and areas to listen and relax to on Youtube for example; from positivity, healing, self-esteem affirmations to gratitude, abundance and connecting with your Higher Self. Simple relaxing, meditative music is equally effective and assists in freeing you from accumulated brain clutter and chatter.

We are all Souls in a human incarnation remember; sent here to be a full expression of ourselves. The external world can be hectic, draining and full of negativity . However it is possible through being Still, meditating and listening to relaxation music, to reconnect and find Your Inner Peace to allow you to walk through life ensuring your Light continues to Shine. Recharge, rejuvenate, reignite your flame and once you do , you will become a Lighthouse, paving the way for others to do the same.

The Light that burns within, through your actions within your Home will emanate through your family and therefore your community and throughout the world. A ripple effect. Never underestimate the power of your Light through kindness, compassion, patience and understanding with your children and in all your relationships. The Old English meaning of “ home” is a village or estate where many “ souls” are gathered.

David Marine in his article entitled The Origin and True Meaning of Home refers to one interpretation of ‘home’ as “ the abiding place of the affections” He writes, “To me, that sums it up like nothing else. It’s not a building or a room, but a place where your love dwells”.

To consider this concept further, Earth is known as the ‘home of humankind”. A place where our love dwells. That light shining in you, has more power than you can imagine. When, collectively, we are all shining , we will be able to light up the dark. You’re doing a great job Mumma. I encourage you to have a listen to Sam Cooke’s version of this song. Have a shuffle and a wiggle around your kitchen, feel Your Soulful connection and Let Your Little Light Shine.
