Self-Care Mummy Blog Series - Week 10

selfcare mummy blog series.jpg

This New Year I’m talking all about Self-Care as a mum and how important it is to take that time for us. Every week I’ll be bringing you a new guest blog post with some top tips and hopefully throughout the next few months we’ll have put together an amazing list of different ideas for self-care.

This week is Stacey Nunn.

Tell us a bit about yourself - who you are, what you do and a bit about your family:

My name is stacey. I have had an interesting life of which 23 years of it was spent in the armed forces. I was made redundant on maternity leave and fell into a massive black hole of depression and post natal depression
After 3 years of struggling with motherhood I have had my pitty party overcome my loss of identity and now moving forward. I’m a dental hygienist and business owner retailing award winning natural skincare.

What do you do for self-care as a mum and how do you make time for self-care?

Time is precious and as a busy mum have realised that you don’t have to spend hours on body maintenance it’s more about fitting it in around your children. I cleanse tone and moisturise without fail every day and I use a face mask 2 a week ( my son loves these nights ) I pretend to be a super hero’s character whilst it’s on.

I soak my feet once a week and remove dead skin cells usually I put lots of silly things in the bowel like magnetic fish so my boy can play games and I can relax.  I try to do things that work for me over night, like using cotton gloves and hand mask whilst I’m sleeping.

I often use mobile beauticians who can come over after my sons in bed as I struggle to get time to fit in appointment in between working and the school runs. Little things like putting cuticle oil on your nails whilst waiting for the kettle to boil simple and no time taken.  A huge part of my self care is exercising in the garden and I set up obstacles courses and both join in.

What are your three top tips for self-care for mums?

  1. Mediation before kids get up

  2. Cleansing toning and moisturiser is a must

  3. Once a week exfoliating your whole body feels like you have had a mini treatment

Are there any products/businesses/podcasts ect that you would recommend for self-care?

Abc skincare collection
Body smooth exfoliator
Dry shampoo for quickness
Good bb cream
